I’m Olivier Gérardin, french-born and Luxembourg resident. I’be been into computers since the ZX81 era (1981), into object-oriented programming since the university (1987), into Java since version 1.0 (1995), into agile methods since I read the agile manifesto.
I work for Sfeir Benelux (Groupe Sfeir), as Technical Director, software architect, Java consultant, trainer, and a few other things. I’m specialized in Java/JEE and RIA development. I created the LinkedIn GWT Users group, care to join?

Once in a while I take off in Flight Simulator, connected to the IVAO network.
Some other projects of mine:

Hi Olivier,
I read your article about GXT MVC and I found it very interested. I was thinking myself for a while that GXT MVC has it pitfalls, and your Article confirms that. I’ve been wondering if you can point me to some good implementation of MVC on GWT / GXT. Also I was trying to figure out how to implement a Portal using this technology, if you can point me to some good articles I could read, or elaborate on the issue I will appreciate, luck of docs about GXT it’s a problem.
Regards
Daniel
Hi Olivier,
I follow your blog and ongwt with great interest! I’ve been working with GWT and GXT for a number of months now in my start-up. I thought that, seen as you have passively contributed to the development through countless good articles and finds, I would like to invite you to try what I’ve been working on over the past 10 months. It’s a collaboration and content management platform (similar to basecamp and huddle) but the front end is built using GWT/GXT. Your opinion and feedback would mean a lot to me and maybe the tool will prove useful to you.
We are currently running a beta and your participation would be fantastic!
Kind Regards,
Alessandro
Hi Olivier,
I also wrote a couple of blogs on GXT and would like to share them with you and get your opinion 🙂
http://www.sambastream.com/blogs/agiannone/29-05-09/high-performance-gxt-gwt-applications-coding-java-javascript
This one is about improving the performance of GXT. One of the changes was actually implemented in the release of GXT, increasing greatly it’s performance when reading large JSON or XML structures received from the server.
http://www.sambastream.com/blogs/agiannone/26-01-09/rich-internet-applications-and-web-20-gwt-ext-gxt-and-smartgwt
This one is a comparison of GXT, GWT-Ext and SmartGWT. Although it is a bit out of date now that SmartGWT is more established.
Thanks,
Alessandro
Hi Olivier,
Not sure how to contact you outside of your blog 🙂
I am trying to get in touch with the ongwt blog writer but there is no way of contacting him/her on the website. How do I go about submitting to them the fact that SambaStream is also “powered by GWT”?
I thought I’d ask you as I came across you from their blog and you seem to have numerous articles on there 🙂
Thanks,
Ale
